Value of diamond rings back in 1989?

March 7th, 2011 by admin Leave a reply »

Any idea how much a 14 K gold ring would cost back in 1989? (approximately) The diamond size is quite small it’s only a .10 or a .15 carat diamond. Solitare.

I thought maybe someone on here might be familiar with jewelry prices. (if they worked in a jewelry store, etc)

Thanks.

It really matters on other factors than what you have mentioned… such as clarity, color, and cut.

I got married in 1989 but didn’t have a diamond.. My ring was 14k gold and was purchased for only a couple hundred dollars. Just a plain band.

Depending on the cut, colour and clarity… I would say anywhere from $99-$300.

It really depends on the cut and clarity of the diamond. You should have it appraised it costs about 50$ and then you’ll know the quality of the diamond. Once you know the carat, color, cut and clarity it will be easier to figure out.e If the Cs are all good maybe between 600 to 1200 depending on the maker! Remember if its a heavy stone with great color and nearly perfect clarity for little money the cut is probably bad and even though the size is huge much smaller stones will look better and appreciate more than a poorly cut large stone.
