Are Teachers Allowed To Give Physical Punishment In A Class That Is Not A Physical Education Class?

October 2nd, 2009

My seventh grade daughter’s teacher is giving physical punishment (i.e. diamond push ups, sit ups, etc.) to children when they get in trouble. He is giving these punishments in large numbers like 50 or 100. I have also been told that diamond push ups have been banned in the military, for causing stress fractures on your wrists. When confronted about this he just laughed and said that after knowing that he was just going to double the push ups. I am fairly sure that this should not be allowed, and that it isn’t, but i’m not 100%.
