Should buying a big honking diamond ring be considered a sin?
The actual value of diamonds is a market created by DeBeers in order to keep selling diamonds. The real diamonds are mined in a horrific fashion using deplorable methods. To top it all off I would think displaying a diamond would be a form of ego, gluttony or maybe just ignorance.

I’ve been trying for months to get decent photos of my white gold diamond rings. I’m currently using a 40cm light tent, with two daylight bulbs on the outside (105w – the massive ones). The problem i’m faced with is that I want a pure white background on the photos, but the white gold/diamond seems to merge with the background.. i’m aiming to get photos like:

yet I can only get something like this:

(that is before any editing in photoshop to get the background whiter, using curves etc..)
the picture then ends up losing clarity and blending with the background.. ive tried changing the levels but to no avail.. is there anything wrong with the photo or equipment setup?
i’m using a dslr nikon d50 with a macro lens and tripod. f/32 and different shutter speeds with lowest iso and manual focus..
any help would be appreciated (but please dont link me to obvious google searches as ive tried them endlessly)

My friend has a princess cut engagement ring that has 4 stones together that create a “solitaire”. What are rings like this called if I am trying to find them on the internet? I tried “4 stone ring” but that didn’t seem to be right. I guess they are probably cheaper than a real solitaire diamond but give the same effect.
I guess I didnt explain it well. They are 4 smaller diamonds grouped together to give the impression that it is a larger 1 stone solitare.
Also…any idea where I can find them, online or stores? I am cant seem to find them online
Ok, so I have 2 diamond rings, one wedding band, simple and one engagement ring with a larger heart in the middle. In catalogues you often see these bridal sets placed on top of each other as if on one finger, that is how I want to wear them, stacked, I heard though that this might be bad for the rings as the one that is on top, and overlaps the band will cause scratches etc, and that generally it is no good idea to wear to rings on one finger. Is this true?

I dont know anything about rings but I know its shallow but i would like to know if this was an impressive ring I am 20 if that makes a difference. I was kind of wondering how much a ring like this is worth.
Its an engagement ring in case that changes if its impressive.
Well thanks for most of these replys really looking forward to getting married later on this month the reason I ask was because I felt kind of guilty about him buying me a ring because we just paid off our house and I know money was tight.
