I’ve been married for 15 years and have a beautiful diamond engagement ring. I want to leave it at a jeweler for cleaning and inspection. However, I know nothing about diamonds, and it occurred to me that it would be really easy for someone to switch diamonds on me without my knowledge. Is this a legitimate concern, or should I just trust a reputable jeweler? And suggestions?

November 9th, 2011I have a diamond wedding ring that I want to sell, I know that I can send it to kay but they will only pay for the gold, it has 8 little diamonds in it too, that I would also like to be paid for. Can I take it to the local kay store and they will buy it? (paying me for the gold AND diamonds?) I know that I will take a big loss on it, and that is fine.. but I’d like to be paid for the diamonds too.
If this can be done, how do I do it?

November 6th, 2011I once bought a golden/silver ring with a diamond in it, worth 400 euros.
The thing is, there are names carved on the inside. How much can I still get for it? Which parts of the ring will the jeweler re-use? Or just the diamond?
In case he can only use the diamond, can I ask him to give me the gold and silver back?
