August 14th, 2011Hi – my girlfriend is pretty athletic, runner, hiker etc. I imagine she’s prefer a diamond ring that is not so, ahh, “in the way.”
Does anyone know of a good diamond ring, or store, or style, or link that they can share that showcases diamond rings for a woman that is like that? I obviously want it to be gorgeous, but it definitely needs to fit her lifestyle.
Jewelry Question: How much is the typical discount on a diamond ring’s IGI appraisal?
August 11th, 2011I am shopping for a diamond engagement ring and I am trying to figure out whether the dollar amount indicated on a ring’s IGI appraisal is worth much in figuring out how good of a deal I am getting. For example, Costco sells rings at prices that are typically about 25% and 40% less than the IGI appraisal value. Do all jewelers discount like this? Or do some retailers actually charge something approaching the IGI appraisal?

diamond engagement rings question?
July 26th, 2011Ok so i’m completely lost. I really want to ask my girlfriend to marry me but I dont have a ring. I was about to buy a diamond ring but after watching the movie blood diamond i changed my mind. i personally think diamonds are too expensive and too much blood is being shed because of them. Will my girlfriend be dissapointed if she does not get a diamond? any advice? thanks

May 30th, 2010Ok living in Australia I am very lucky to have plenty of food, free healthcare, education and freedom as are many many people in the world. When you are blessed with these things and you see the ads on TV with starving children and people dying of disease in other parts of the world do you feel guilty? I get torn when trying to decide what to do with money, should I live in a small but decent house, drive a cheaper car, wear fake diamonds and have fake Louis Vuitton so that I can donate all of the money left over to try and make other people’s lives better? I said to my mum that I feel like I want to give away everything I don’t need to help people who have nothing and she said “Amanda we only have one life and you have to live it for you and your own. Your time on Earth is short so don’t spend your life feeling upset about other peoples lives” So my question is what is the right thing to do. Assuming that there is no heaven (because I dont want to bring religion into it)
Oh and let me just say I am not all superficial and everything I was using the Louis Vuitton and diamonds as an example. I am trying to ask if we should cut down on our material possessions to give food and medicine to other people even though those material possessions might make us happy.

May 11th, 2010can someone give me a detailed history of diamond mining in the congo, sierra leone, and south africa. im preparing a speech on illegal diamond mining and their effects on the population of the states in which the diamonds are being mined. i would also like it if you could include some links to the sites where you got your information so i can add them to my bibiliography as i study them.
