I am Sam // All you need is Love [best scene]

January 24th, 2011

Sean Penn is an amazing actor and it’s probably my favorite movie by him so far. His character Sam Dawson pretty much likes the Beatles and he always uses lines or anything the Beatles members said in every day life. and in that scene, his daughter Lucy (named after the song “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”) does the same. __________________ Movie: I am Sam Actors: Sean Penn, Dakota Fanning Characters: Sam Dawson, Lucy Diamond Dawson Disclaimer: I don’t own the movie, the characters, or the music. I just use it for entertainment and not for earning any money.

I have 2 diamond rings that I need to sell. Where can I get a good price (not online) in the Orlando FL area?

September 30th, 2010

I have tried online, and not a single inquiry. I have tried some pawn shops, but they offered little money. I am not looking for thousands of dollars, but I know both rings are worth a lot more than the pawn shops will give, and more than I was even asking online. I am in the Orlando area!

Diamond Shopping: What You Need To Know About Diamond Carat Weight and Color

August 18th, 2010

If your search for the perfect diamond has begun, you have no doubt spent hours of confusion navigating the alphabet soup of VVS-2, SI-1 GH, IF, DE, the four c’s and all the other myriad combinations of letters and numbers that have a huge impact on a diamonds price. Here are some fascinating diamond facts as well as information on the importance of diamond carat weight and color and how they affect diamond prices.

Diamond mining originated in India. Prior to the discovery of diamonds in Africa in 1867, these gems were extraordinarily rare available only to royalty and the upper classes. Diamonds are formed under intense heat and pressure deep within the earth in a specific type of volcanic pipe called kimberlite. Volcanic eruptions forced diamonds out of their dark hiding places and many diamonds have been recovered from streams and river beds. These are called alluvial diamonds. Other diamonds settled back into the kimberlite pipes. Recovering diamonds from kimberlite involves mining.

One of the most important factors that affect the price of a diamond is the carat weight. Carat is a unit of measure that derives from the carob bean, which is extremely uniform in weight. Early diamond traders in the Mid-East used the carob bean as the standard unit of measure for determining a diamond’s weight. Larger diamonds are rarer and command a higher price per carat. A good quality diamond of a half-carat may cost $1,000.00-$1,500.00 while a full one carat may be closer to $5,000.00 to $6,000.00. A good quality two-carat diamond will fall into the $16,000.00-$20,000.00 range.

Color is another important consideration when diamond shopping. Aside from irradiated colored diamonds, most color in diamonds is caused by elements and gasses present when the diamonds are formed. The closer to colorless the diamond is, the more expensive it will be. A fine quality one-carat near colorless diamond may cost upwards of $7,000.00, while a true colorless diamond of the same weight and clarity will be well over $10,000.00.Keep in mind that color in diamonds is difficult to detect. Taking two sheets of white paper from different sources and noticing the subtle contrast between them is a good way to familiarize one’s self with how faint the gradations of diamond colors can be. Tiny differences will have a substantial impact on price.

Understanding how carat weight and color affect diamond prices will help you determine your diamond buying budget. Once you decide on the criteria most important to you, you will have an informed idea of what to look for in making your engagement ring dreams come true.

Do You Need a Diamond Anniversary Ring?

June 11th, 2010

Choosing a diamond anniversary ring is a great option to celebrate a milestone in your marriage.  Most couples wait for at least the fifth or tenth wedding anniversary to choose a ring, but of course there are so many options on the market today that you can commemorate any year with such a choice.  So when you need a diamond anniversary ring, where to go and what to look for?

First, keep in mind the taste of your wife when choosing a diamond anniversary ring.  Sometimes men pick out the biggest and flashiest ring, thinking this is what she’ll love, but take a good look at the jewelry your wife wears.  If she prefers simple pieces without a lot of flash, then you’ll want something simple and perhaps less flashy.  Also, does she wear a lot of gold or silver or a few choices of both?  Some women really don’t like gold whereas others prefer it over silver; if you choose gold and she hates that metal, this isn’t going to go over well.  So take a minute to glance over her present choices to tune into her tastes.

You can always try a diamond ring in a platinum setting.  Platinum became popularity in the early 1900’s because of its great beauty and its resistant to tarnishing and wear.  When it is polished it does not lose any of the metal like gold and silver does.  Perhaps your wife would like an antique platinum anniversary ring.  After is it cleaned and polished it will look as good as new and it will have a bit if history to go with it.

When it comes to the gemstones of a diamond anniversary ring, you will need to be mindful of your budget.  There’s no limit to how much you can spend on the diamond itself and the surrounding stones, so you need to have a certain budget in mind before you shop.  Many diamond rings have surrounding stones that you can choose; usually these stones can represent the children, the number of years you’ve been married, or something else significant.  Again, your budget will need to be taken into consideration.  If you have three children but have been married ten years, you might opt for three small stones rather than the ten!  But the feelings of your wife need to be considered as well; sometimes a woman wants to be thought of as more than just a mother, so it might be better to have the anniversary ring represent just your marriage and not the fact that you’re parents.  And of course the ring doesn’t necessarily need surrounding stones either; a band of just diamonds or just a few diamonds alone can be very beautiful on its own.

A jeweler can help you with your choices for a diamond anniversary ring and let you know what may be appropriate for the particular year.  Obviously celebrating 25 years is going to mean something more significant than ten years, so you’ll want to shop appropriately.  Your budget may be limited but very often a diamond anniversary ring with the right stone and the right metal can be considered an investment and will appreciate in value for years to come.  So consider your options, the taste of your wife, and your budget and you’re sure to find something that’s a perfect fit.

Im doin this Black history month project and i need help. I have to do a timeline on the life of Malcolm X?

May 29th, 2010

The timeline has to be relevant to the persons life, eg: Jackie Robinson’s timeline could be one of a baseball diamond. Home base being his birth and all the way back to home including events leading to when you get back to home base, his death. Any ideas for Malcolm X?
