What Makes Cushion Cut Diamond Rings Rare?

August 23rd, 2010

Cushion Cut, a diamond cut normally known as the pillow shape diamond shape,is one of the rarest cut of diamond. Unlike princess shape, oval cut, or emerald cut, the diamond ring with cushion a cut is not that popular. History wise, the cushion diamond ring is being use even before, together with other diamond cuts, however its popularity emerge not until the latest century. A Cushion diamond has its Cushion Cut Engagement Rings appearance that differentiates it from other diamond shape. It could be either rectangular or squared shape depending on personal preference, though the pillow cut rings could be made in different shapes and proportion. Unlike the other cushion which became popular during the earlier period, the pillow shape diamonds became popular not until the late 1800 to the early 1900. Although it is called the pillow cut diamond, it is more popular being a candlelight diamond since it is cut specifically to be brilliant in candlelight, the facets project with respect to the light from a candle. Not the sunlight, or moonlight, it’s the candlelight that a pillow shape diamond ring works best. That’s one thing that makes a cushion gems rare. The ability to project a thousand facets is best depicted with candlelight. Pillow cut jewel rings are difficult to find since they are mostly embedded in antique rings. We could seldom find pillow cut diamonds in modern rings. Many older gems are cushion cut, since the older civilization like their jewelries to be unique and versatile. Gems rings with pillow cuts have its time some centuries ago, when early people prefer cushion shaped diamonds ornamented in their jewelry. Cushion Cut Engagement Rings have more or less 60 facets, which is fewer than the other diamond shape, the reason for its less popularity. Jewelers prefer the other diamond cuts than the pillow cut gems because of its less popularity and market. Pillow shape diamond ring sparkle less than other cuts because of its cutlet, or the depth within the stone. If pillow shape diamonds have extremely large cutlets, it destroy the beauty of the ring. Since it has fewer facets, clarity seems critical, and the stone color also makes the crucial quality. Nowadays, jewelers prefer the pillow cut gems stone to be embedded with other types of diamond cuts. They are extremely used with oval and emerald cuts, to add prestige and brilliance. We could seldom find the diamond ring in pillow cut as a single diamond since it is less popular. Though the market of the cut is blowing up for couple of years now, it is far different from other diamond cuts. The buyer’s personal preferences greatly influence the market and the demands are mostly old-fashioned cushion cuts. Though the Cushion Cut Engagement Rings are less popular than other cuts causing it to be rare, it is still consider one of the versatile diamond cuts. Don’t you know that one of the best examples of a perfect candlelight diamond resembles the infamous Hope diamond? The beauty of a pillow cut diamond ring still stands the test of time. It might not be as rampant and popular as other diamond cuts, but it is worth for keeps.

Wanting an educated man makes a woman high maintenance? So I’m supposed to be with some loser?

June 4th, 2010

What is wrong with wanting a man who’s educated?
What is wrong with a woman pursuing her education? So there’s something wrong with me just because I want to better myself and my life? There is something wrong with me just because I’m going to keep on going until I earm my PhD? Since when is getting an education to better yourself wrong?

What is wrong with a woman wanting an educated man with a real job?
Am I supposed to just settle for some jobless deadbeat or man with 2 to 4 different baby mama’s just because it’s convenient? Am I supposed to marry some fool nicknamed Dirty Willy with a grill in his mouth, selling drugs on the side, and working at Checkers with some cadillac with hydraulics?
What is wrong with wanting a man who is worth it?What is wrong with holding out for a man who isn’t standing on the corner shooting dice all day with the boys and saggin his pants?

So a woman wants an educated man comes off as high maintenance?
So there is something wrong with me just because I’m in school bettering myself and prefer a man who is doing the same?
I’m supposed to settle for some loser?
Preferring an educated man makes me high maintenance? WTF? What is wrong with some of these female’s thinking? These females just settle for any old body.I’m sorry but I’m not that desperate.Yes I prefer a college educated man with a real job.Is that so wrong?
I’m in college and will be in college until I earn a PhD.I want to be a principal someday and own my own daycare.I’m bettering myself and no I don’t want some loser who sags his pants, shoots dice, listens to booming music in his cadillac with hydraulics, and wears diamonds and gold in his mouth.
So I’m a bad person because I prefer a real gentleman?

What Makes Women Want Diamond Rings

December 24th, 2009

A woman’s eternal desire to feel special, gives rise to her desire for diamond rings. It is indeed strange, isn’t it? How women throughout the globe, irrespective of their nationalities, religions, traditions, family and educational backgrounds, occupations and temperaments, crave for diamond rings? And, how strangely similar their smiles and expressions become when they have a diamond ring slid around their finger!

It is an age-old belief and pattern of thinking firmly entrenched in a woman’s mind that a diamond ring is special. Since childhood she has seen a diamond ring around her mother’s finger. She had loved to play with it. She has grown up listening to the story of how her father proposed to her mother and what that diamond ring meant. Thus are sown the first seeds of desire in the sub-conscious mind of a woman. Then she gradually sees the other engagements and weddings that happen around her as she grows up. Though she understands that an engagement ring need not necessarily be a diamond ring, and engagement only requires true love and commitment, she also notices the high value that the world tends to put on a man who gives a diamond ring to her fiancée. The man’s love for his lady seems to get proclaimed loudly with the glitter of the diamond. And, thus, like a woman’s eternal wish of making the world jealous with her choice of a fiancée or husband, increases her secret desire for a diamond ring.

This is strongly reinforced by romantic novels, movies, albums, greeting cards, posters etc., where a diamond ring is projected as the only emblem of intense love and adoration. The television commercials and other forms of advertisements created by the different diamond companies also attempt consciously to contribute to this belief and desire.

History tells that diamond rings started holding a special value back in the Roman Age. During those times, a man was required to barter for his bride. The idea was to offer the engagement as a security for his commitment to marry. If, later, the man failed on his betrothal, the engagement ring was kept by, the bride, as her financial security. Thus rose the need of offering diamond engagement rings as they had high financial value and their sale would provide good financial security to the scorned bride. Thus the concept, that diamond rings are the most special of all rings, originated from a cause that was only financial and far from anything emotional or romantic.

In the medieval age though, diamond rings began to have a romantic connotation, when the Italians associated diamonds with the flames of love.

The most modern reason happens to be that diamond is the hardest gemstone. This property and the fact that it can have the most versatile setting increases the worth of a diamond ring in the minds of today’s women. The traditional value of it, for being recognized as a symbol of pure and true emotions, also refuses to go from their minds.

If women started to free themselves from their weaknesses towards things like diamond rings, flowers, soft toys and chocolates, women will not be women any more. So, it is better to leave them as they are and pamper them as and when the hour comes.
