Buying Lovely Diamond Rings With Side Stones

September 27th, 2010

So you decide to buy yourself a diamond ring. Whether the ring is for you or for someone special, you might want to consider something more elaborately made than the usual one stone rings you find on some jewelry sites or in jewelry stores near you. You might want to consider buying diamond rings with side stones instead of the usual solitaire rings that you see everywhere. There are a number of rings with side stones that are being sold on numerous jewelry websites and these rings are stunning.

What Are Diamond Rings with Side Stones?

Diamond side stones rings are essentially diamond rings with a center stone and a few smaller stones running on the side of the ring itself. These diamond rings are usually made for engagement rings, wedding bands and such or they can be made for other special occasions. These rings with side stones are often an alternative to the more laid back solitaire engagement rings that some people find too plain for what they need.

There are a number of sites that sell these beautifully crafted rings for any occasion. In fact, you can choose your ring from the selection of diamond side stone rings made for wedding bands and give the ring as a gift for some other occasion. The person who receives this ring need not know and will probably still appreciate the ring you bought, specially if it is a multi-stoned ring like those diamond rings that are available on a lot of jewelry store sites.

Diamond Rings with Side Stones for Engagement Rings

Some people think that the perfect engagement ring is the solitaire ring and they could be right, or they might not know how beautifully rings with side stones look as engagement rings. These kinds of rings are usually made with one large ring in the middle of the design, usually set higher than the other smaller stones for a more beautiful setting, and smaller stones are lined beside it to give the ring more sparkle. These diamond side stone rings may even have other gemstones as the side stones for a different appeal or appearance.

There are a number of these diamond rings that have either sapphires, emeralds, rubies or other semi-precious and precious stones as the side stones for the design. These usually give off a different appeal as compared to the traditional all rings with side stones. You may even check the options with engagement rings UK for better choices.

The more popular diamond rings with side stones are usually those that are made out of all diamonds however and these companies that sell these jewelry often have quite a selection of rings for those who want them. There are a number of diamond cuts that you can choose from for these rings and there are also a number of ring designs and styles that make lovely rings. You can even choose the cut of the stone to have placed in the middle of the ring with the side stones remaining as is, according to the design of the ring you choose. These side stones are usually embedded in the ring so their shape is usually in the round shapes that are the most common shapes for smaller diamonds.

A Few Important Facts About Buying Diamond Jewelry

August 17th, 2010

If you are looking for diamond jewelry, there is no shortage of exquisite designs.  Whether you want a simple ring for everyday use, or an expensive brooch for that special occasion, there is a diamond to suit your needs.  Diamond jewelry and accessories are available in a plethora of attractive styles and colors. Their rarity, beauty and durability make them a popular choice among both sexes.

The diamond has an intriguing history.  In India, some 3000 years ago, it was first appreciated for its ability to refract light.  Later, people used them for adornment and also as a charm to ward off evil.  For a period during the Dark Ages, the diamond was used to treat illnesses and injuries. Some believed that if you held a diamond in one hand and made a sign of the cross with the other, that you would be healed.  It wasn’t until the Middle Ages that people became more aware of the diamond’s value rather than its alleged “mystical” powers.

In today’s society, the diamond satisfies the various needs of both traditional and modern individuals. However, when it comes to choosing a piece of diamond jewelry, it is important to know a few factors.  For instance, the price will vary in accordance with the essential “4 C’s,”.  This is how a diamond’s cost is determined.  Cut, clarity, color and carat weight are the quality elements that determine its value. So what do these elements mean?

1. Cut – This refers to the proportions, finish, symmetry and polish of the diamond.   The highest quality diamonds are well cut and will sell for a premium price, while a badly cut stone will be sold for a discount. How can one tell if a diamond is well cut? Nowadays, it’s very simple.  Modern technology can determine the cut of a diamond by use of an advanced, high precision system called the Dia-mension system.  It offers superior accuracy for the measurement of polished and semi-polished diamonds.

2. Clarity – It describes the diamond’s purity and brilliance. Every diamond is unique.  None are completely flawless, even though a rare few come close.  A diamond’s clarity is determined by its number of external blemishes and internal inclusions.

3. Color – Diamonds are valued by how close they come to being colorless.  The less color it has, the higher the value.  Most jewelry store diamonds are either colorless or near colorless; some with bits of brown or yellow.  Exceptions to this rule are the fancy-color diamonds, like pink, blue, violet, and so on.  Fancy diamonds have a deep, distinct natural color, and therefore, unlike the regular colorless stones, they are valued for their color.

4. Carat Weight – Diamonds are weighed using metric carats.  One carat weighs about as much as a little paper clip or 0.2 grams.  In the diamond industry exact precision is crucial since even a fraction of a carat can make a huge difference in cost.

Buying that special diamond basically comes down to a compromise between the 4 Cs and what factors you consider to be the most important to you. For instance, you may decide on a larger, lower color stone or prefer a smaller, high color cut one with good clarity.  Either way, once you know how diamonds are graded, it will be much easier for you to make your selection.

Tips In Buying A Unique Diamond Ring

August 6th, 2010

Because of the extreme demands for diamond rings, there are a lot of designs to choose from. In fact, when you go inside the jewelry store, about 80 percent of the rings that they are selling have diamonds in them.

With literally hundreds, thousands and perhaps even millions of designs on your plate, how do you find then a unique diamond ring that you can call your own?

Basically, there are no designs that are exactly alike. Unless a customer asked to copy one design, a design will remain unique. Differences however lie on the details and not on the general design or the overall look. In fact, people will not be able to tell the difference between some designs unless they look at them closely. In order to really own something that is really unique, you really have to make an effort to look. Here are some ways that will allow you to wear a diamond ring like no other.

1. Create your own.

Why not try to design your own ring? Most stores accept made to order so why not try to submit a sketch of that diamond ring that you have been wanting to own? Who knows, it might just be workable.

When you ask for the ring to be made to order, make sure that you are aware of the price. The sales personnel will surely ask you to choose from their loose diamonds so be aware of the budget that you have set. Also, ask first if there is an additional charge for made-to-order pieces. Although most stores do it for free, it is still good to ask just to make sure that there are no hidden charges.

2. Try it with other stones

Solitaire diamond rings may seem really nice but unfortunately most people already own a diamond solitaire ring and what is more, there is only a few ways to set the diamonds on the gold. Chances are, new designs are not that many. If you really want designs that are unique, try diamond rings that have other stones with it like emeralds, rubies or sapphires. Try to pair it with the color of your eyes and see if it fits you.

3. Be on the look out for new designs or unique pieces

Not everything that is sold in the stores are carbon copies of each other. In fact, there are pieces that are actually unique. Try to be on the look out for these kinds of pieces. If you do not have the patience, ask the store personnel.

Buying A Diamond Ring As Anniversary Gift

June 1st, 2010

Anniversaries are festive occasions especially for couples who have been together for such a long time. With the divorce rates skyrocketing in the country, it is a blessing to be able to hold on to a marriage for more than 10 years.

What more fitting gift for such a special event as a brilliantly cut diamond ring. This is the perfect symbol of a love and commitment that lasts a lifetime.

But with hundreds of designs to choose from, how do you buy the perfect anniversary diamond ring for your special someone? Here are some tips that hopefully will help you cut the chase.

1. Determine how much you can spend

Let’s face it. A diamond ring for an anniversary gift is not exactly cheap. Compared to the usual romantic anniversary gifts like flowers, chocolates and even a candle-lit dinner, a diamond ring is way above most people’s league. Even if you combine the budget for all three, you will still not come close to the price of a diamond anniversary ring.

While in search of a diamond anniversary ring, it is important that you have your budget with you to help your narrow down the choices.

If you don’t have the budget, better save up for the next anniversary year. This is better than buying something that you cannot afford. You will only end up knee-deep in debt or giving your loved one a cheap-looking ring.

2. Determine the design that you want

Although there are literally millions of designs out there, there are groups of designs that will appeal to your spouse. For instance, antique and Victorian rings will appeal to people who are into the romantic periods or those who love old things. There are also more modern designs that make use of a variety of new cuts not only in the diamond but also in the gold.

3. Determine the metal

Remember that you are not only buying the diamond. You will also be buying the setting. Decide what you want to buy, whether it is yellow gold, white gold, silver or platinum. In choosing one, refer to the kind of metal that your spouse usually wears. If majority of his or her jewelry is in white gold, it is good to buy a white gold diamond anniversary ring to better fit the rest of his collection.

4. Determine the size

Unless you want to ruin the surprise and have your spouse select his or her gift with you, you’d better research on the ring size. It would be really unfortunate to buy a ring that would not fit.
